Jack, you're absolutely right; blade #4 is hot and blade #1 is negative at tow vehicle. I also suspect that you're right that maybe hilo didn't wire these trailer like that. I think the previous owner re-wired it the way it is. The white wire on trailer blade does match the #4 blade on TV (I know it's wrong, but it seems to be working this way)...I don't like it either. I connected TV and there was no spark or smoke, yay!! and everything seems to be working. I think in the near future I will re-wire the trailer wiring harness to match the proper wiring like the schematic on hilo. Thank you again Jack, and everyone else for helping me with this confusing wire problem.

Yay! I'm glad it works. Don't be in a big hurry to change that wiring. I know it would bother the hell out of me and I'd try to fix it if it were mine. But, simply swappng the wires is NOT the fix, and you're going to have to determine exactly what everything is connected to and how it's receiving power in the current configuration. It won't be particularly simple and unless you're comfortable working with DC circuits, you could easily muck things up.

I have to remind myself (and others) at times of the old addage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Too often I have ignored that advice, sometimes to my very great sorrow.

You're absolutely right!! My wife said the same thing to me ealier today, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it". lol. Leave well enough alone. It bugs the crapp out of me...but I think I'll take you guy's advice and "leave it be".

BTW, I just replaced my water heater last week (leaky tank). If it's not one thing, it's another! oh well no worries!! it keeps me busy lol. Besides I still want to take her camping one last time before the end of the year, it's still warm enough here in So. California.
