91 Funchaser won't go up or down

Had a sciatic flare during the winter and couldn't do much. Better now and had a camping trip planned for last weekend. When I tried to lower the camper (after being up all winter), the top had settled a few inches and am not able to pull the safety cable to let it go down. When pressing the up or down button, it sounds like it is in a bind. Have not been able to find an owner's manual or any schematics for the wiring or lift system. Need HELP.

What kind of noise does it make when trying to put it up.

Clicking noise = charge or replace battery
squealing noise = something is binding or jammed.

Down button won't make any noise unless the battery is not charged or bad, then it will be a clicking noise. All the down button does is open a solenoid that lets fluid out of the ram.

it won't raise on 120 volt power alone, need a charged battery.

Welcome to the Forum!

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. Before you try moving the top up or down crawl under the trailer to check to see if everything is in the proper place, namely the hydraulic cylinder, the guide rod, and the safety bar. You said that the top had settled a few inches, that doesn't sound good. The safety bar should have been engaged and prevented that. There should be not sound when lowering which tells me there is something out of place underneath.

Here is the link to the Forum library where there are a bunch of manuals that have been put into PDF format. You may not find any manual that matches your 1991 Funchaser but look for one the comes close to 1991. The manuals are not model specific and are very generic.

Hopefully you will find the problem.
