annoying saloon doors
 

We now have a HiLo Towlite 2706 as of this year, and recently sold our old 2496 Towlite. Our new one has the bathroom in the middle between the rear bedroom and the front area. The bathroom has two sets of the folding saloon doors to cordon off the bathrooom from both other areas. The design and placement of these doors are just a bother to use daily, and I have to restrain them in the folded position with bungee cords for travel. We are considering removing these doors and are trying to draw up plans to construct small thin pocket sliding doors that will emerge from the cabinet side of the bathroom. This project is still in the R&D stage, trying to find suitable hardward and a good clean method of installation. Anyone out there that has considered or have done this, I would like to hear your sucess(or failure) story before I proceed further.

That sounds like a great idea and should be doable. Hopefully someone has already done that and can share some thoughts.

My HiLo has the same setup, bathroom is midship. Our 2 sets of folding doors have a strap that snaps across both doors holding them together while traveling. Doesn't yours?

We removed the rear door and only use the front folding door for privacy; this works for us!

The first owner of our 2704T removed both sets of doors and then made and hung, using velcro, removable vinyl panels that extend the existing curtains to the floor.

We've used the extension panels once, when our grandson and daughter-in-law camped with us. The rest of the time the panels have stayed folded and stowed. Some may prefer more privacy, but my wife and I got past that long ago. ;)

Its a simple solution to a clumsy original design.

Hi, we still have the bi-fold doors on, but for grandkids and even ourselves, we put a heavy room darkening panel, just off the floor, on the curtain slides that are designed for trailers and just use that most of the time. When not needed, the panel can be tucked back behind the bi-fold doors, which are held back with a strap for that purpose. There was a factory installed short curtain there above the bi-fold, that moved on the track, but we have stored that away for now.

wife and i have a 2709t. we removed both sets bifolds. we also removed upper slide panels, removed glide tape and sewed them on light weight curtins. works great. ruger1 08 475hp. TUNDRA

Hi Chris: I remounted the one of doors on the living area side of the wall so it opens against the wall next to the refrigerator. I then installed a velcro tape piece on the wall with a matching piece on the hinged panel, and a second matching strip between the two door sections. I removed the other door, and stored it under the bed. This has worked out fine for us.
