Default At home raised position

We have been home from our trip for a couple of weeks and our Hilo is still in raised position. Will this be problematic? I know manual says not to store in raised position but spouse doesn’t think it will be an issue…should we block it up?

I honestly don't see why having it in a raised condition for a long period should be harmful, but the top IS being held up by the lifting cables that way, and I suppose they could stretch a bit. Also, it might settle down on the safety bar if up for a long period and this MIGHT distort that bar, which would be something you don't want.

Given those two possibilities, I suspect it would be appropriate to place four 2x4's between the outriggers and the top that are cut to a length that will just fit and would support the top if lowered on to them. This then, would support the top the same way the outriggers do when it's down.

However, when I've been working on my trailer at home, I've had it up for a month or so without having any damage.

I keep mine up as well year round. I do put 4x4's on the outriggers to keep the stress off the cables. I figured it cant hurt.

Having had a cable break I recommend spraying the ends of the cable that lie just under the side edge with WD40 or some other type of water displacement. Rain will follow down the sidewall and go under the edge. When I had all the cables replaced that was where they were rusted the worst, right where the bolt goes through the cable eye, attaching the cable to the trailer.

I agree that cables should be protected against corrosion. My HiLo is stuck in the UP position, likely due to that. So now it's propped up with 2x2s until I get a Round Tuit:
