Awning arm repair
New to computers, new to hi/ lo, So had a broken awning arm latch, bent internal arm. I removed arm, straighten, cleaned up distorted metal. I bent a 6 inch trough, pressed fit to the awning arm, attached with 8 10/32 flathead screws. Finally paint.

Good awning repair
We were able to get an awning latch at our RV dealer. Another time we had good luck getting parts from Carefree of Colorado. Our awning is from 1990 and they had the parts when we did battle with a severe wind storm and lost. Last camp out one kind member of our club ran over to tell us a storm might be coming and we put the awning away. The storm never happened. Better safe than sorry.

DBec, welcome! If you can figure out how to do it, pictures of your repair would be very useful for all of us. Glad you were able to fix it.

Awning Arm Latches
Quote:
Though I've installed them on Patios for other people, and much larger at that, I personally have used an 18' x 24' Custom Truck Tarp for a large area with 8' support Poles and Carpeting and never had an awning on my Hi-Lo. |
Bruce, the hardware on the awnings is made of very brittle "pot" metal. I broke a couple of mine when I backed the trailer too close to a fence. Fortunately, I found replacements online.

The only problem I had was the damaged arm due to the previous Owner Catching and bending the lower rear Bracket.:) |
I don't think I could have used my awning with the broken fittings. The rear arm was hanging free from the top (no longer attached at the bottom end). It would not have been safe to travel with it that way.
