Default Awning Repair

I need to repair some small nickel size holes in my awning. It appears when the pull strap is left in the same position for a long time, it can wear through the awning (now I move it slightly to a new position when I close the awning)...but I was wondering if anyone has any experience on what the best product is to use to fix this? I see awning tape, canvas cement, and a host of other products....any suggestions?

plain old clear packing tape sticks really well and lasts a few years.

Since we just had quite a bit of rain this past weekend (yea!), I rolled out my vinyl Dometic awning to dry it out. I've found in the past that if I don't do this the water will not dry out very easily so I've made it a regular practice now after a rain. Anyway, this was the first time I had ever rolled it out in the down position so was able to get a good look at the top portion of the awning. I noticed several pin holes and an area where the vinyl is about to fail. This is the area where the awning material is exposed to the weather when rolled up.

I'm looking for a product recommendation to repair the vinyl. Has anyone done this type of repair on their awning?

Thanks,

Greg, if the fabric is not TOO badly damaged, it can be strengthened considerably and protected from further damage by painting it with Kool Seal or another elastomeric white roofing paint. I imagine small rips could be repaired with Eternabond tape, but the paint will probably coat and fill small pin holes.

For awning repair I would use TENACIOUS TAPE available from REI and others. Very good stick and available in some colors if wanted.
I use it to repair any issues with my hang glider sail and awning material.

Very good UV and rain protection.
