Bunk Installation on an 1810h

We have a new Hilo 1810 from Stahmanns and bought a bunk kit from JR's.
No instructions are available. We have only seen the bunk in pictures on the internet. Has anyone installed one? Any tips/tricks?

I was thinking of installing one too. What all comes with the Bunk Kit? Thanks

Bunk Kit

Bunk kit ($567 + crating and shipping) comes with:
Bunk (mattress is an extra $138.60)
Front brackets with swing arms.
Latches for ceiling
Support lanyards
Assorted screws, nuts, bolts and locking pins.
I think I have the installation figured out and have taken pictures/notes along the way.
Should finish the project this week and will post the results.
Once I layed the hardware out and with help from various pictures from ads on the internet and some detailed mesurements, I think I have cracked the installation code.
I did changed four bolts for ones with more shank to provide less wear on the swing arms and a few cap nuts to protect our grand girls from scratching themselves on exposed bolts.

We also order the fabric piece that matches the 1810 decor (extra $35).

We are adding a sway control bar (had a few really minor sways on the road back from the Texas), second battery (used mainly for our trolling motor) and a cigarette lighter plug in the battery compartment for ease in connecting our battery charger/maintainer (when in our garage) and solar panels (45 watts) when we are boon docking.

Still perfecting the shower curtain to minimize damage when showering.

We did a fit check in the garage and looks like we can get the Hilo and the F-150 in our modest two car garage if we stick to a strick diet and move the water softner to make room for the spare tire.

Thanks to Neal and Bev's post on "How to post pictures" we will be able to document these modifications for the forum...after all pictures are worth a thousand words.

So far we did Balmorhea SP, Elephant Butte SP and Gila Cliff Dewellings NP on our way back to Sahuarita from Texas. The Hilo has exceeded our every expectations.

Making a 20 day run out to California next week, so much more to come...

Thanks for the info. I'd love to see the pics and details of the bunk install.

Maybe if you take the spare tire off while storing in the garage you may gain some space.

That's a good point - or maybe move the tire to one side or the other of the bumper as to miss your water softener. We used to do this with our 89' FunLite so we could pull a Sea-Doo trailer behind the Hi-Lo.
