Can you tow in the UP position?
Just wondering if you can tow a 2003 hi lo Tow Lite in the up position. Perhaps, to move to another location or while traveling long distance.

NO do not attempt this. The weight of the top going over bumps or dips in the road will exceed the cable breaking point or the cable mounts will pull lose from the trailer top section, the plastic cable pulleys may shatter or break.

Here are the instructions to lower the top section with out 12 volt power.
Pull the manual pump lever a couple times and have some one at the same time pull out on the safety release cable, pumping takes the weight off the safety bar and lets the cable be pulled out. Located the manual release on the pump, open the valve (location can be found in the HI-Lo manual) the top goes down by gravity. After the top is down about 6 inches to a foot the person holding the release cable can let go and move out of the door way, the top can now go safely down, only have the front part of the pump cover open. Don't forget to close the manual release valve after down. If you need to raise and lower manually it can be done just not to convenient. But again never tow with the top up, major damage can occur. Before lowering the top be sure nothing will inter fear with it when going down, nothing on counter or top of fridge, water faucet in the front position, bunk bed is stored in the up position, Air conditioner wire is stored back in the top. Nothing to high on the bed or dinette bed. Please read the manual on lowering the top as I may have missed something. |

Don't even do it for short distances. You risk too much damage.

Thanks again for your replies. You are all so helpful.
We took the trailer to Lake Perris (close to home) for our first run. Everything ran and worked perfectly. we got a great deal and a great rig. Love this site! |
