Confused with my weight

ok I had a deal on a 1993 HI LO HI LO 2293L for $7500.00 and for $500 more they would go through the unit and repair or replace all needed items and locate at site. Luckily I got curious about equipping my 2006 Dodge Dakota with a hitch, and found I might have a problem pulling this trailer. How much does the trailer weigh? I brought my truck by the dealer and they seem to think it would be unsafe, and refunded my $500 after 3 weeks. I cant say enough good about them as I believe we bear some of the responsibility for the confusion. I have a 3.7 v6 with automatic OD trans. Dodge specs:

CURB WEIGHT AND PAYLOAD
DAKOTA CLUB CAB 2WD SHORT BED ST

Transmission Ratio Axle Wt. Payload Curb Wt. Front Rear Front Rear GCWR
(DG6) 3.55 8.25 6010 1750 4256 2448 1808 3100 3600 9000 4600
(DG6) 3.92 8.25 6010 1750 4256 2448 1808 3100 3600 9300 4900
I am not sure what trans I have so I am including both.
We are planning several local trips in STX and a TX FL MA TX trip in the summer. As we would be out of the mountains, I thought we would be OK.
Does anybody know the weight of this trailer, and can I pull it? We pack a little on the heavy side, and we would be 3 adults.

Rear axle ratio is important for max tow rating. Also you need to look up the tow rating of your truck? $7500 for a 93 doesn't sound like much of a deal.

I agree. I paid the same last year for my 2202.

Weight of HiLo

For that kind of $ they should have fixed everything for no extra charge. Be patient and you will probably find a better deal from a private buyer. Look in the library section for wts. and floor plans. Remember you will also have to pay registration.plates and sales tax. www.NADA guides.com for prices.

I agree with the dealer, you don't have enough truck to tow that trailer. From what you said "equipping my 2006 Dodge Dakota with a hitch" your truck doesn't have the towing package, therefore you don't have enough towing capacity to tow that camper.

Sorry
Cheers

The price for the 93 is high and I would try to find a little smaller trailer.I would hold off until you found a 2001 or newer for the same price. Look at oodle.com, craigslist, rvtrader for some ideas. The reason I suggest a 01 or newer is they built the newer trailers with alumium framing in the walls and roof (I had wood framing in my 97 which had alot of dry rot and had replace it, I didn't have a place to rebuild it and the cost with me doing the work was high.)
The wieght issue, I think the 93 wieghts around 4,000 lbs. I wouldn't go over 80% of the towing rating. The dodge dokota v-6 wouldn't pull it, you need a tow package with a trans cooler. I think the truck is a little small. You wouldn't be able to pull anything larger than a 18 footer. Keep in mind you have to set it up correctly to tow safely. The hitch receiver on the truck has to be frame mounted. You'll want to use a WDH set-up with a anti-sway control. A brake controller on the truck to control the trailer brakes. And a 30amp 10gauge charging lead from the truck to the trailer to run the refrigerator on 12 volts and charge the trailer batteries while towing. I'm towing a 2206 towlite (at 4,000lbs) with a toyota tacoma 4.0L v-6.

Thanks

for the 2293 it weighes #3590 empty with no options, meaning no a/c , no awning, no water, no propane tanks, no battery,on the avarage add 500 to 700 lbs to that number plus food, beverages, passengers, fuel, etc. with the 3.7 and a 3.55 rear gear you wou would be in the 4500 to5000 lb. range.I would think you would need a little more rear gear(3.73) and a 318 v8 plus a huge trans cooler
