Here is something you don't want to do... When your Hilo is down, don't leave the propane and the heater switch on. It will send enough heat out of the heater exhaust flue on to the day/night shades and curtain to catch it on fire. Yes, I understand this was not very smart...but, stuff happens that causes forgetting to ensure things are turned off. So, just saying...be careful.

That is a very good point. Leaving the master switch in the 12 volt on position while traveling helps to increase this possibility. With it turned off the furnace, water heater, and any other 12 volt device, with exception of the refrigerator, will be off. I an somewhat surprised that Hi-Lo didn't incorporate a safety switch that turns off the power when the top is lowered. It would be simple to include one in the design. Perhaps the new HiLo Co. owner can pick up on that.

I made the mistake of leaving a folding chair against the furnace vent on a cool night. I had a nice circular melted spot on the chair back in the morning.

Just a point here not all HI-LO's have a master switch. My 95 Towlite doesn't.

Might want to review this again. It does say thermostat off. Great information. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

My 1996 Tow Light doesn't have a master switch either..
