First time Hi-Lo owner in need of help
So I just bought a 1973 16' Hi-Lo camper a few days ago and have a few questions.
First off, the previous owner of the camper had owned it for a couple years and said that he only went camping a few miles from his home and never lowered the top. He said the man he bought it from rarely did it either. Well I am about to drive almost 250 miles with it and I would like to lower the top. What do I need to do? He said that it would take a car battery to do it and that the camper needs to be level. Should I be concerned that is hasn't been lowered in so long? Any general advice would be appreciate as well. TIA |
It should never be driven with it up, Ever. Not knowing the person you bought it from I would doubt their veracity. I am not familiar with that age of HI-lo but there are many on this forum that will be able to help you. I just wanted to make sure you did not drive 250 miles with it up.

Thanks for the advice. I bought a marine battery and installed it. Once I finally got the locking mechanism disengaged everything worked fine. I look forwrd to coming on to this board often for some hi lo advice.

also, make sure your cables are lubed, and that they are not frayed. after so many years, i would check them before you raise and lower the top a few times. check out the forum on cable inspection and lubrication
