Default Fridge switch in a 1998 Hi-LO?

I have this switch by my monitor panel that is to run the fridge fan.I have never had it work or neverheard this fan running anyway. Is the fan turned on with this switch manually or does it turn on using a sensor somewheres. If manually, it does not work.I assume this fan is 12 volt or is it 110 volt.Thanks.

If it's like mine, and I think it is, it's thermostatically controlled and will come on when the temperature at the heat exchanger reaches a certain level (100 degrees F, I think). It will not turn on immediately when you flip the switch. It is a 12 Volt fan.

I'm sure it is fuse or circuit breaker protected, so you might check that aspect.

Smile Fridge Fan Switch

Also check the ground wire for the fan. I had the screw back out of the wall that held the grounding wires for several items. I replaced the screw and placed a "glob" of silicon sealer on the screw head to prevent it from backing out again. If your "muffin" fan is noisy, peel back the paper label on it, remove the little rubber plug and put some oil in the hole. Replace the rubber plug and it will run real quiet.
