Gravity filling water tank
 

Does anyone have any gadgets either homemade or store bought for filling the fresh water tank? My camp where I have my Fun Lite doesn't have a water hook up so I will be pouring it in from a 5 gal jug. There must be something to make this job easier. I've seen the fills with the flap at the top would this be the best way? Thanks for your help.

This sounds a bit inefficient but get a plastic funnel with a flexible spout and a plastic pitcher. Rather than holding a heavy container over the funnel fill the pitcher several times and pour the water into the funnel until the water container is light enough to hold over the funnel. It works for us.

Hmmm, an interesting problem. Well, just brain storming, or maybe brain sprinkle in my case. Here some possible ideas.

1. Siphon: As long as the bottom of the water tank is higher then the fill inlet of the Hi-Lo, then you could siphon the water into it. Siphon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2. Hand pump: They make a variety of hand operated water pumps. Since your Hi-Lo is mostly in the same spot, you could go for something more efficient and a bit less portable then this model, but you get the idea. Hand Pump

3. Electric pump: I found several electric pumps on the web, but one pump that we know works well is an RV water pump. I couldn't figure out how to easily use the one in the camper for this. However, you could buy another pump, bolt it to a board, or make a fancy carry box etc. Add a couple of hoses, one for inlet and outlet. Add a couple of wires with alligator clamps to connect to the battery, and voila!

I looked at the pumps and such and may go that route. i was mainly curious about some type of replacement cap with a fitting or something. I would have thought this would be available. Thanks for the suggestions.

That would be great idea. A funnel type device that screws on like the cap would certainly be a wonderful thing to have. You should contact Camco or Valterra and suggest that they come up with something like that.

My camper's previous owners left me two pieces of "patio furniture". I think they used them as small light weight tables to put beside lawn chairs. They are actually sections of plastic shelving, similar to this: Walmart.com: 4-Tier Heavy-Duty Plastic Shelves, White: Storage & Organization The legs are removable and everything is easily stored. My tank fill is in the front of the camper. I put one of the "tables" onto the battery box. I use a collapsable water container with a hose attached to the spout and place it on the table. I let gravity do the rest. No need to hold a heavy water container.:)

That's what I'm talking about something that makes it easier. I have a 5 gal bucket with a spigot on it from beer making and a piece of tubing sit it on the propane tank cover and open the spigot. I still am surprised no one makes something for this.
