You either need the assistance of some strong friends, or you need to use something like one or more farm jacks (depending on how many cables have broken). You'd need one jack per broken cable. Then, once the top is up, you have to support it with something like a 2x4.
You can generally avoid a cable breakage if you inspect and lubricate the cables once a year. Look especially at the part of the cable near the ends where it goes over the topmost pulley. They seem to rust and fray in that area, from what I've read.
