*HELP* Where is my VIN ?
I have purchased a '99 31ft Classic in New York State and the VIN Tag on the outside of it is completely sun bleached , , , it's blank, gone, nothing there. This is a problem because I need to have a New York State law enforcement official examine the trailer VIN to make sure it matches what's on the Title. He then has to fill out the section on my Kentucky VTR Form so that I can register the trailer in that state. Is there another place that the VIN is on my Hi-Lo? I don't know what I'm going to do if I cannot verify that the VIN is correct. Does anyone know where another VIN Tag is or would be. Thanks in advance, Jeff

Two places I know of on later year models, one on the weight sticker on the road side, and one down on the lower half front corner on the curb side.

On mine the vin is also stamped into the top of the tongue. Look on the top and sides of the tongue.

Vin on trailer
If the trailer had been registered in NY would the DMV have the vin information. Would the former owner have this information or the selling dealer?

My 2001 has a VIN sticker stuck on the cover of the 12v fuse panel in my trailer.

Most agencies will not rely on decals when verifying a VIN. They want to see the permanent number on the frame. On trailers this is usually close to the tongue.

Here is an idea, call Mantelli RV in Lockport, NY: Mantelli Trailer Sales, Inc. - MTS RV Parts & Service Departments
They were HiLo dealers and still supply HiLo parts. They surely would know where to look for the VIN. |

Hi Jeff: Check these two places on your trailer. The stamped number on the top of the frame is just the last five digits of the vin. The other sticker has the entire number. - Kim
