Hi-Lo Raising Questions
All winter long, my 2001 Hi-Lo 31B would not raise up properly.
The motor sounded terrible and it would only rise very slowly and the motor would get to smelling like it was hot. Now that the weather has gotten warmer, it raises up exactly as it's supposed to. Is there something that I should be doing that I'm not? Am I doing something wrong? Does any one have any insight or advice? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hi-Lo owners everywhere. Rick |
Hi Rick,
Did your rig have a lot of snow accumulated on the roof? Jim |
Cold weather wrecks havoc with a battery, not so much in warm weather. By not having a full charge, it would put a strain on the lift motor in the cold weather. Have your battery checked out at a local auto parts store. They can put a load on the battery while testing it. A good battery is key to the lift system.

additional to the above suggestions, the hydraulic fluid could be low, causing "cavitation" when you run the motor.

Might have some water in the hydraulic fluid that was frozen in the Winter. If so you'd want to drain all the fluid and replace with fresh.
