Interior top hitting side of refrigerator

We just purchased our first Hi-Lo and are trying to figure things out. We have a 2401TD. We have only raised and lowered it about 4 times. The last time I lowered it, I heard a "crunching" sound. I saw that the wooden support that runs the width of the trailer at the bathroom had hit the top of the refrigerator. It just barely caught it and just shaved off a few splinters, but it was still disconcerting. Can anyone tell me why it did that? The trailer is perfectly level. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Welcome to the forum. You have come to the right place for answers.

My first thought would be to check to see if the glide blocks on the upper half are engaged with the vertical rails on the lower half. That is what keeps things lined up. You could have a broken block or something jumped off the track.

Please report your findings to share with the rest of us.

I checked the blocks and rails. Everything looks good. Could it be a problem with the cables? When we brought it home, we noticed that the front left side on the upper section was bowed where the cable attaches. It's not a really bad bow (we didn't notice it when we were inspecting it for purchase), but it is noticeable with good lighting. Nothing appears to be broken or cracked in that area, but something went wrong to bow it out. Any thoughts?

You need to check out that cable to see if you have a broken pulley. The previous owner may have adjusted the cables too tight thinking that the top and bottom rails should be even when the top is raised and this can break a pulley, a cable or damage the rail at the cable attachment point. Any of the above damage could cause that corner to be lower than the other 3 corners and distort things enough to cause the support to hit the fridg. On my HiLo, in the area of the bathroom and the fridg, the vent pipe telescopes into itself and if it got bound when lowering it could cause the crunching noise and maybe shift the top enough to cause the support to strike the fridg. Not knowing your layout this may not be a factor on yours. Let us know what you find.
