Jackknife couch brackets

Guess what happens when you get the brackets reversed during installation. Your couch doesn't work and you have to remove it...again. When I first put them back on the couch, I over figured things and said that doesn't look right. So I removed them and swapped ends. Yeah, that looks right...wrong. Had them right the first time. So, I just finished reinstalling the brackets a 3rd time. 3rd times a charm, right? If anyone ever removes these do yourself a favor and mark the bracket as to which end it goes on. You will thank yourself later.

Jackknife couch brackets

Read another post about some good smaritians at a HiLo Rally that took a couch out to replace a water pump and had to reinstall the couch twice.

My jack knife cover had a tab at the front which alerted me to the correct orientation.
but still a pain to install by yourself.
I bound the bed with a strap to install. Made it less cumbersome. Mount and unstrap.

I had the couch in the right way but I had the brackets on the wrong end. When installing the brackets, they should swing to an orientation that the bracket that mounts to the underlying frame will be parallel to the couch back, not the bottom as most people would assume. That is why it looked right when I installed them but was completely wrong. Easiest way is to mark the brackets before removing them from the couch so you know which end they go back on.
