Kool Seal Confusion

I've decided to apply kool seal to my aluminum roof but am confused as to which "formula". On this site, most just refer to it generically as "kool seal". However, on their web site, there are different variations including one that is more specifically labeled for aluminum and some that are not, but are listed as good for aluminum. The specific one includes some type of fiber. Also, recommended, is a base layer. So I am confused. Is there a general product and approach folks like to use? Is the base layer necessary for my (our) applications or just a way for the mfg to talk me into buying more product? Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Rick, I suspect all the additional things are not necessary. I've applied the Home Depot "Henrys" brand elastomeric paint to my home roofs without using any "primer" or other additional materials and it lasted a good 5 years before I decided to recoat it. All I did in terms of preparation was to brush clean (with water) the roof beforehand. I've also used the same product on awning materials without any preparation. I don't really think any "base layer" is needed. I HAVE used the Kool Seal brand in small areas and don't really think it's any better than Henrys.

I suppose a product containing fiber might be a bit more durable, but what kind of stress is your trailer roof subject to? Mine is covered when not in use, so the roof is normally protected.

I just completed the Kool seal treatment on the 2203 TL rubber roof, and called the 800 # for produst help. They were also helpful with application information. I did 2 coats of gray base coat followed by 2 more finish coats, waiting at least 24 hrs between applications.
They probably use different paint formulas for metal roofs, call them (888-321_5665)
Also I found prices varied wildly and changed each day online. I ended up getting base coat from true value online and finish coat from Walmart - also online

VERY IMPORTANT to check date codes on container, I bought a 5 gallon bucket at Sherwin Williams and had to return it as it was over 2 years old. They took it back no problem.
