local HI-LO owners

Good Day y'all,
We looking at hilos in the Atlanta area but have no experience with them.
I was hoping there are owners nearby and we could talk to them or even better visit them. I have a lead on an 88 but it was towed in the up position and the owners has no information about the unit. Who fixes these things in the north Atlanta area?

HiLo in the Atlanta area

I don'tlive in your area. Red Flag the the unit was towed in the up position. This is a big NO No!!!! The unit could be dammaged from this. Look in the library section for the check list on what to check out when considering a used HI Lo. I hope someone lives nearby that can help you. Give us an idea what length unit you want, price range. Do youm want a light model(Towlite) or a heavier model (Classic. Are you handy with repairs? What is your vehicle rated to tow.? Take your time in locating a unit as they seem to be plentiful even though they are no longer being made. We understand someone has bought the patents and are making prototypes this winter. We are here to help you and answer any questions that you have. Welcome to the forum.

This was taken from NDgent's post here on the forum. It is a great go-by list. You can do a search of thinking about buying and find his post to read it first hand.

Basically, start with the visual items –
1. Exterior
• Look for water stains and discoloration on inside walls and around ceiling anywhere vents, skylights, windows, etc. exist.
• Push and prod with your hand on the inside walls for soft spots (which could indicate a water leak and a damaged or rotten interior wall).
• Check for bubbles in the wallpaper (a sign of delimitation or water intrusion)
2. Interior cleanliness of the unit-
• Look for water stains and discoloration on inside walls and around ceiling anywhere vents, skylights, windows, etc. exist.
• Push and prod with your hand on the inside walls for soft spots (which could indicate a water leak and a damaged or rotten interior wall).
• Check for bubbles in the wallpaper (a sign of delimitation or water intrusion)
3. Test appliance functions –
• lights
• fans
• refrigerator
• air conditioner
• heater
• water pump
• range hood
• stovetop
• oven (if equipped)
• microwave (if equipped)
• stereo (if equipped)
4. Lift System-
• Does the unit raise and lower properly
• Check the lift system for hydraulic leaks (puddle under the trailer)
• Check the lift cables to see if they are in good shape and not frayed
• Check the seal between the upper and lower body halves for tears or damage
5. fill the tanks to the top and check for leaks
6. Battery
7. Solar Panel (if equipped)

HiLo Parts & service

We have a 2000 27' classic we purchased and completely rebuilt the top half. Both upper walls are brand new, the roof/ceiling is also brand new. This unit also has new awning, all new seals and rails, back cables are new and have been adjusted. All the windows have been cleaned and re-putty taped and sealed. It has new carpet and has been totally detailed.

Someone in the Atlanta area is looking for a HiLo. I'm going to be in Atlanta in Feb. I would be glad to deliver.

You can call our store 419 886-0008
