Default Locking pin?

I raised my Hi-Lo all the way up and then locking pin does not seem to be latching. Where is the locking mechanism located? Cable seems to be stuck in a pulled position. Any ideas ?

Welcome to the Forum!

It sounds like the safety 'bar' is in need of some cleaning and lubing. It is located almost directly under where the switches are and it is mounted parallel to the lift cylinder. It is eventually a flat metal bar that falls into a groove on the plate that the cables are attached.

It may be in need of some TLC like cleaning and lubing. Spray some silicon lube or WD40 into the tube where the release cable is also. While you are under the trailer checking that out be sure to clean and lube the guide rod that parallels the hydraulic cylinder, that is the most important part of the lift system that needs regular maintenance.

If that doesn't work just let us know, we are here to help.

Rich, is there a spring, or does it just fall into place due to gravity? I've never looked at mine, because it works easily. I can certainly see how it could bind due to crud buildup though.

I believe it just falls into place. The bar is springy and may flex some when the release cable is pulled.

After the same thing happened to me, I put it on my maintenance chart to lube the release cable tube with my sewing machine oil. The bar had gotten pretty yucky over the years, a small wire brush did the trick, then a grease job. Maybe only once every couple of years.

Thank you everyone. After looking at it I found it was stuck up. The cable also seems to be a little damaged. I can see it now and can deal with it. Once again, Thank you!
