Modify entry door seal
 

I've never been happy with the door seal and decided to make it more appealing and practical. I began by removing the inside wood strip on top of the door and measured the thickness at the widest part (since the molded door is curved). I then took a 2 x 2" piece of wood and used a table saw to chew out an opening that width, allowing 1/4" of wood on the inside and leaving 1/2" of wood at the top. This created a fitted top for the door. I slid this down over the door top and attached it with screws on the inside where the wood strip was and sealed it with clear silicone. The hinge side of the top piece has a niche cut out to allow it to clear when opening.
I removed the seal on the screen and attached a 1" piece of wood shaped to the size of the opening, allowing for a 3/8 x 3/4 Bulb style weatherstrip (available at an auto parts store) and attached it to the existing metal that held the original weatherstrip, with screws up from the bottom. The wood fits up against the screen. I had to cut the metal down to the width of the board.
I then removed the seal from the outside door and replaced it with the self adhesive bulb type weatherstrip, allowing it to seal on the metal part of the screen door.
We're wintering down south and hope to cut down that cold draft when it dips into the 30's.

Nice mod there Lloyd, are you wintering in Texas? We spent the last 2 winters in Florida, way down on RT 41, was a little warmer than the winters we spent in Texas, also no storms, the Texas storms were a little scary. LOL, hope we can hook up again sometime. Richard
