new to me 8225 camper
I just finished my first camping trip in my recently purchased hilo. I have been looking at the for the last 3 years until I found this one. I brought it home cleaned and lubricated the cables and lift rod. I also changed the tires and repacked the wheel bearings. The previous owner told me everything would work and they did. He had changed out the refrigerator, A/C, hot water heater, furnace, and inverter. I took her out to our local state park for four days and had a blast. Thanks to all of the information I found on this forum. I will need to update the propane bottles, scrub the outside some more, and reseal the windows. I did not have any leaks just following the advice I found here.

Welcome to the forum
Your unit looks to be in good shape. Glad you had a good maiden voyage.

Thanks I only paid 2000 for her

Be sure to take the moldings off around the top and seal them and the clearance lights as well. This is where my major leaks were. You should probably get some new stainless steel screws to replace what is there. I got 500 form ebay for a good price, but I am told the Fastenall stores are reasonable too.

Thanks I will get the screws too

I forgot to mention, you may need some oversize screws if you find some that aren't holding. Go with a bigger diameter, not length.

Maintenance items
I don't want to scare you right away. I would highly recommend taking out all you windows and reinstaling them with new butyl tape and Lexel caulk. Had we been told to do this on our 1990 it would have saved us many hrs. of wall rebuilding. We have replaced all exterior screws with stainless steel ones. We even replaced the ones on the interior windows. When I go to my HiLo tomorrow I will give you the size screws you need. Order at least two hundred of each size. You just can't believe how many screws their are. One fringe benefit of removing the windows is that you will be able to see the inter condition of your walls. You tube has a video on window removal and reinstall.
