poor brakes

Any ideas on poor electric brakes? Over the years I have replaced the magnets and two of the drums, but still have poor braking. Can't adjust them any tighter. It is a 86 funchaser 22 foot.

Have you tried replacing the shoes? They can dry out over time or glaze over. Trailer brakes aren't very powerful to begin with though. You won't be able to lock them up. When I use my brake controller to apply the trailer brakes fully as I am rolling, I can feel a slowing but not a very powerful one.

how old is your brake controller? I upgraded to a prodigy T-3, auto-speed sensing controller. Haven't had anymore problems with not enough power to brakes or locking them up.

You should also check what the actual voltage is right at the brake magnet. Old or poor wiring connections can drop the voltage through the connections and reduce the braking ability.
