Quick help? batterey tie down

Trying to take off next week for florida. Was making sure new nuts would fit on batterey tie down rods ( which were banged up) and I twisted one off at the the threads. Anyone have a source for these or have come up with another solution?

Thanks,

Rick

Rick, I don't even need tie downs with two batteries in my trailer - they really can't move more than about a half inch. But, I'd check an autoparts store like Checker, etc. I know I've seen them for cars there and maybe they'd have something that would work.

Well, right you are. I actually have two group 27 batteries and it is a tight squeeze- but I'm always a bit concerned about the bounce (or the possibility of a bounce). Anyway- I DID locate something at an auto parts store that looks like it will work quite well except for having to enlarge the holes at the bottom of the box just a hair- which will involve laying or kneeling on my back in the snow to do it but not much to overcome given the motivation of somebody trying to head south. :) . I actually stopped by the old hi-lo dealer to see if they had any laying around but they did not. The guy there said he used to twist them off all the time, though, and also suggested the auto-tied down solution.

Thanks for getting back.

Rick

Cool! Have a safe journey and enjoy the sun, which I hope you will get.

I'm envious. I've measured, and there's no way I could fit two Group 27 batteries in mine.
