Default Raising and lowering

Can I raise and lower my hi lo while plugged into 120 volt power.

Hi, f4mnect, hope your first time out with your trailer is a great success.

To answer your question, yes you can do that. The lifting motor for the top gets its power directly from the battery, so the 120 Volt shore power to the converter battery output will have very little effect. It won't damage anything to raise or lower the top while connected to shore power. It's not like raising the top while connected to the tow vehicle's battery charging circuit.

If the trailer battery is weak, and the tow vehicle is charging it, raising the top can pull more than 30 Amps through the tow vehicle's charging circuit, and this will blow the fuse in the tow vehicle.

However, the shore power converter in the trailer limits the charging current to the battery. The converter WILL help a very slightly weak battery raise the top, but if the battery is discharged, then the converter will not do the job.

However, I think it's more logical to have the top raised before you plug into shore power. It makes getting the power cord out easier, if nothing else.

Thank you for the information. Why I asked is I have it plugged in now for a over night chill in frig before we pull out in the morning and was wanting to lower it to add a name to front. Thanks

Also Battery's fully charged, Our trip tomorrow will be about 4 hours. I'm running the frig on dc for the whole drive up. with the 6 gauge wire i ran....I'm hoping no lift issues when I arrive.

Lowering the top requires very little power because the motor doesn't run for lowering. Only the solenoid valve opens to release the hydraulic fluid back to the reservoir.

With your wiring hookup, you should have no problem lifting the top at your destination. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to shut the fridge off from DC while lifting the top to reduce the pull on the battery.

I always keep the HiLo fully raised when getting the ref. chilled 24hrs. before a trip. Maximum ventilation.

Great plan try it in all powers you plan to use(AC/DC/propane...otherwise run on AC when plugged in...saves propane

Is it normal to have condensation on ceiling out lining the supports in ceiling of trailer. This morning a few hours after we woke up I could see every support in ceiling they had condensation on them. I'll get a picture tomorrow if it happens again

That's similar to something I see on homes on a somewhat regular basis during the winter. I see frost on a roof, but can clearly make out the rafters. I believe it's due to the temp being just at the right point where the frost can form on the shingles, but the wooden rafters have held just enough heat overnight to prevent the formation of frost immediately above the rafters.

But, if you're seeing a lot of condensation, you might consider increasing ventilation.

With the gas heater on, you really should have a vent cracked open. Ours is open about 3" in the center bath.

Since this has not been mentioned

Make shore the AC cord is unpluged between the top and bottom before lowering the top.

In my 2305 it is in the bathroom
