Raising my 1989 Voyager

Just bought plan on redoing it. Can't get motor going to raise, tried bypassing solenoid, just a small movement then it quit. How do you test starter?

Hello and welcome!

Your description of your problem is a bit light on details. But, it sounds to me like your motor is fine, since it "moved". I would have to guess that your battery is weak. Fully charge your battery (or attach jumper cables to a known, good battery) and give it another try.

The lift motor ONLY works on battery power. Nothing else has the Amperage needed to drive it.

If your trailer has the manual lift device, use it to lift the top enough to gain access to your battery if needed.

I tried jumping it with my truck. That did not work.

Where would the manual be located?

Look on the forum home page, near the bottom the red header titled "Library". Under "Library", click on "Hi Lo Owners Manual". There's a collection of manuals for various years/models.

There's also a nice collection of YouTube videos on Hi-Lo operation:

Are you asking about the manual lift or the owners manual?

If the manual lift, if equipped, is in the compartment with the pump and it looks like part of a bottle jack where you insert the jack handle and start pumping about 150 strokes. Not all Hi-Lo trailers had that because it was an option on many models.

Owner's manuals can be found here on the main page under the library category.
