The head of the power jack will not allow my lift gate to open when the trailer is connected. If I rotate the power head by drilling and rethreading , I could use my tail gate on my Grand Cherokee. Is there any reason not to do this????

Can't you just unbolt the power jack and turn it 90 degrees, or does it have the round plate instead of the triangular mounting plate. Can you tell us what power jack you have?

It is a round plate but it cannot be rotated to the next bolt hole because the cover on the propane tanks prevents that position. Joe

I have a manual jack on my trailer and it also interferes with the liftgate on my Jeep, the base of the jack is a triangle, not sure if the holes are interchangeable, may try it and see if I rotate it 120 degrees, how close it gets to the propane tank.

It may be that I could rotate the jack (Use the existing threads)and the power head would not interfere IF there is a short cover for the 20 lb tanks. Is there such a thing and how high are they. anyone know? Joe

You can get short soft covers for the tanks that are about the height of the tanks. The short hard covers are about 6" shorter than the tall ones.

Can I do that with my WDS system? I notice two holes in the shaft that goes into my hitch receiver. Perhaps using the shanks second hole may shift the hitch 3-4 inches which is about what I need. I will try that as it would not require any changes. Any of you senior members see any issues?????Joe

No real issues except that you MIGHT have to change the settings on your WD hitch a bit to shift the weight more to the forward axle. By moving the ball back, you're increasing the "lever" effect of the weight of the hitch, so it could tend to lift the front of your TV some.

To help understand this, think of increasing the length of the shaft by about 2-3 TV lengths. If it were this long, you could probably lean on the ball with just your hands and lift the TV's front wheels off the ground.

Didn't Archimedes say something like, "Give me a long enough lever and I can lift the world."?
