That's interesting, Pop. Here in Tuscon the majority of roofs are flat (no snow) and I've never seen the EDPM product advertised or in use. (It's possible I haven't been paying attention.)
The flat roofs here are constructed two ways: 1. Gravel over asphalt - a VERY poor roof, that needs re-coating often and is prone to leaks.People outside of Arizona generally don't know what I'm talking about when I speak of a built-up, composition roof like ours. - Jack |
My son in law is a roofer he has been putting on commercial rubber roofs ever since they came out here in PA. Late 80tys I think. He has went to several different company schools for proper installation. Each company in the beginning that manufacture rubber roofing had a different installation method for holding down, don't know they may still.
Large hotels with many floors, that have lower buildings that the guests can see from their window are sometimes done in black and white strips or checker board, some use combination of both, much more expensive. |
My Hi-Lo (1989 - 33 feet) came with a rubber roof. My understanding is that they didn't make them with the rubber roofs for very long. Anyway - I am right now in the process of replacing the roof with a new EPDM rubber roof.
In fact, I am replacing the ENTIRE roof - all the plywood, and rubber roof. It's a big job, and I am about half way through. I will post some pics when I am done. ;) |
