Question rubbing on back cap when down

I figure the back cap should not rest or rub on the bumper when in the down position. Would it hurt anything to double up on the rubber pads on the rests so as to eliminate this. It is not rubbing bad but the paint on the bumper is gone and black marks on cap. Thanks for any help.

I would double-up the rubber bumbers on the outriggers, plus if needed replace the gray bumpers that are mounted on the underside of the top section.

I had some rubbing inside, from the top on to the "wood" railing behind the sink in our trailer. I "thickened" the rear bumpers on the outriggers and there seems to be no ill effects.
