We are considering replacing the crank-up antenna with a GM-2000 G2 satellite [antenna] on the roof of our 2006 24ft. Classic. According to the manufacturer it weighs 13 1/2 lbs. I don't think the weight would be an issue. Any info. would be very helpful.

I am convinced that a permanent roof-mounted satellite antenna will be a problem on RV campsites where there are tree limbs. I'd go with the portable model or simply a satellite dish and tripod like I've been using for 10 years. Dish Network has a program for RV'ers if you want to buy an additional receiver from Amazon or eBay and leave it in your RV, you call and have it turned on or off which costs about 50 cents per day or you can bring one of the receivers from home for no charge.......
Good luck! Bob

Your right about the trees and a carry-out would be the way to go if I could figure a way to secure it, just in case we fall asleep with it still outside.

I have Directv and use a King Flex and use a chain and padlock to secure it to the trailer.

Thank you for the suggestion. We'll take a look at them at the next big RV show in January
