Some fun with 1703T stabilizer jacks
Though I'd share this little saga with y'all:
In a hurry to leave site, while loading the poop hose into the back, I temporarily placed the jack crank on the spare tire, duh. Arriving back at the house, said crank showed up missing - as we say in Texas. "No problem", I go to Wifey, "I'll just carry a socket wrench and use that". The fun began when I calipered the bolt head on the stabilizer lowering screw and found it to be . . . . . . . . 23/32" or just over 18mm. :confused: Naturally enough, no socket that I had would fit and a 3/4" socket just rattled around on it. Finally, it turned out that the problem was corrosion! the heads at the back of the camper are open to the weather, causing them to "shrink". So, the lost crank was actually 3/4" and I've just ordered a pair of RV scissor-jacks that come with the same size crank. best regards, Ted |
We all have made mistakes like this
DH pulls away from the campsite and I am outside doing a final visual for anything left. When we had our popup he left a good sears hammer. Remembered a short distance down the road and he didn't want to go back. Someone got a nice hammer!! One camping trip we were at the dumpstation and I noticed another camper with their vent open. They then closed it up.

Next time your socket doesn't fit. Cut a piece of soda can and wrap it around the nut then the socket will work... Old Navy trick with salt water..
