Trailmanor Hi-Lo Type Trailer? - Hi-Lo camper travel trailer forum

I was looking about the internet this morning and saw this: http://trailmanor.com/wordpress/wp-c...etouchlong.jpg I know it isn't a Hi-Lo but looks like the earlier models. I thought it was interesting and can't wait to see what they do with it. I do wonder how it will compare with the Hi-Lo product. We have always been semi-interested in the Trailmanor but the reviews weren't good enough to chance it and we quickly noticed that while Hi-Lo had units made in the 70's still on sales lots, rarely did it seem that you saw an older Trailmanor so thinking, well, the worst of course. Just wanted to see what others thought about this. I do wonder if they have purchased the Hi-Lo idea or have came up with something on their own. I haven't seen any articles talking about this.

Type Trailmanor into the search function above and you will find a number of posts that mention it in some way or another.

Trailmanor has been around for a long time and did not copy from HiLo.

Try putting up or taking down a Trailmanor in the rain and keeping things dry inside.

I did some searching and could not find out any additional information on the "Rise". People are wondering but no one knows. It looks like the "Rise" will have hydraulics involved and there is also plans for truck camper that will do the same. The link I provided in my original post shows the profile of the trailer.

I've just happened to look at both an older Trailmanor and Hi-Lo over the last couple of days. We happened upon the Trailmanor on a dealer lot so just did a quick survey of the inside. Not sure of what year it was. My wife and I were not impressed. It seemed pretty cheaply made.

The next day (yesterday) we did a thorough buyer inspection of a 1999 Hi-Lo 22C. Although we ultimately decided to pass on this particular unit, the quality of the Hi-Lo was very evident to me, especially as compared to the Trailmanor.

That being said, this new model bears watching and I would be interested in looking at one when they do make their debut.

Looks like an old HI-lo to me. I wonder if the hi-lo lift system was patented in some way and the last patent ran out? At any rate- thinner sheet metal etc to make it lighter and I suppose you could do it. The design is not rocket science. Wonder how they will price it compared to what they have.

Brookside, I just took a look at notalines' link with just a smidgen of information, and it states "A patented hydraulic system raises the roof with the touch of a button . . . No pulleys." I have very little knowledge of hydraulics. If someone on this forum knows about other hydraulic processes which do not incorporate pulleys, it would be interesting to hear about them. I think it is safe to say that Hi-Lo's patents are now expired, so after 17 years from date of issuance of the Hi-Lo patents, that information has become part of the public domain. However, it is possible that TrailManor purchased blueprints and other trade secret information from the Hi-Lo Snyder family (that information is the "fairy dust" that provides the minute details to practice those expired patents). I'm just speculating, if the above is true, TrailManor may have improved the expired utility patents of Hi-Lo and filed for patent protection for such improvements. When I have time, I'll dig a little starting with googling "TrailManor Owner's Forum," and see if there is some gossip there. Also, check on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.gov site to see if any abstracts have been published with assignment to TrailManor. Very interesting!!

What is interesting is that they do discuss Hi-Lo and how someone was/is hoping to resurrect the company. I do wonder how one would gauge what the demand would be. I see a lot of companies bring out a new model and see it quickly disappear.
