Unknown switches.

We just picked up a 1992 22' hi-low and are having problems determind a few switches. The first is on the main console.

It's the red vertical switch with a silver back plate.

The second set is under the overhead storage on the right when entering the the door.

I know one of these is for the outside "porch light" but we don't know what the other is used for.

Hi Rancehood,
In the upper pic, assuming yours is the same as ours, that is the switch for the reefer heat exchanger cooling fan. The fan switch is wired in series with a simple bimetallic thermostat, so turning the fan switch on won't necessarily turn on the fan. Outside ambient temp. has to be high enough (I think 90F) to turn it on. The switch is mainly for overriding the auto-on function so the fan won't drain the batteries.
Sorry, but I'm not sure about the switch in the second pic. Our rig doesn't have a second switch in that location.

Just taking an educated guess here, it might be one of two things. First guess is that the previous owner installed a "hott rod" water heater kit. Look at the drain hole of the hot water tank and see if any wires are going to it. Second guess is a "heat exhaust fan" for the refridge. At any rate the switch does not appear to be factory. Does the second switch under the cabinet control an exterior light on the front of the trailer? Happy hunting.

We think the 2nd switch on the overhead cabinet is for a front utility light near the front propane tanks.

Mystery switches?

I have a Classic. In the picture of the two under cabinet switches ,the ist switch is for the outdoor lt. You can put the lt. on from the inside before you go outside of the trailer. The second lt . switch puts on the lamp lt. under the cabinet. Our inside/outside lt.never worked when we got the trailer 12 yrs. ago. During our recent restoration DH was able to correctly wire the inside/outside lt. The wire was inside the cabinet under the shelf in a wire bundle. The wrong wire was connected from one of the bundles. Welcome to the forum. Where are you from? Do you have a classic or a towlite?

unknown for switchs

One switch turns on the interior lights and the other is the master switch for the porch light. This switch must be on in order for the out side porch light switch to work. This enables you to turn the porch light off with out having to go outside, but you must remember to turn it on again in order for the outside switch to work again.
