Water dripping out of city water hookup.

Hi, I've been a member since we bought a 2808C in 2017. I haven't posted anything since my intro as I haven't had any serious issues. While on a recent camping trip I was experiencing dripping water out of the city water hookup. I was boondocking and using the water out of the gravity fill tank. When I turned on the water pump water would leak out. It would eventually stop when I turned off the pump but leak again with the pump on. I've tapped on the pump to see if a diaphram might be stuck but no luck. Any help appreciated.

Thank you,

Richard

Hi Richard.

I think there must be a one-way check valve in the city water inlet line that lets water go in, but not out. It must be stuck in a slightly open condition, possibly has some dirt trapped in it? I imagine it can be replaced, but I've never had this problem so I can't offer any more help except this:

Possibly, you could clear the problem by hooking up a hose to the city water inlet and running water through it (and out the kitchen and bathroom faucets). See if it still leaks when the onboard system is pressurized after doing that?

Thank you Jack. I will go out and try that right now. I enjoy reading all your reply's to the various issues that come up with the HiLo's. You are very knowledgeable and a great help to the members.

Jack, I think it's fixed. I filled up the water tank and also ran a hose to the city water connection. I will check again tomorrow. Thanks again.

Hope so! It was just a guess on my part, but I love it when problems get resolved easily and cheaply.

Someone in the Jayco Owners Group on Facebook had a similar problem. I told him to remove the screen on the city water connection and push on the check valve. That was all it took. This is probably a common happening.

Thank you RichR, I think the water pressure from the hose dislodged the check valve as it appears to not leak anymore. Appreciate your response. Richard

Rich has a lot more experience in these things than I do, so his suggestion is something to file away for future reference.
