What do you think of the nada guides?
 

Do you think the prices in the Nada guides make sense? I just looked up a 1989 22 ft funchaser and it comes up at about $1200. I have looked and have not seen any at that price. Are the prices I am seeing them with (more like $3000. +/-) inflated or are the nada guides off? It seems to me the nada guides are probably off. What do you think?

The Nada guides appear to be a little off when it comes to the Hi-Los. Though it can help with negotiating.

When you buy something that old, it is the same as buying an old car, prices are all over the place. Condition has a lot to do with the price, people have bought old trailers as low a 300.00 Also what the owner thinks he can get raises the price.

Ok, so I am going to look at a good condition '89 22ft funchaser in good cons but needs a new fridge. The trailer is $1000. The fridge is $850, parts only. So about $1900. I feel like This is a good deal, as long as the trailer is in good shape, but not according to Nada. Wondering what others here think.

If you like the trailer and are willing to invest time and money to get everything up to par, it is probably a deal. I would expect to find water damage in any unit that old (simply because very few are garaged in winter and the caulking fails after only a couple of years). The water damage is cumulative and hard to detect until it is really bad. Mine is a 2007 and I have found water intrusion because of bad caulking but no serious damage, yet. It would be my personal preference to purchase a newer one ... one with aluminum or steel framing. That would be 2000 or newer with aluminum framing or a Funchaser with steel framing.

We did see a little water damage on wall behind the kitchen area. The current owner's (friends of a friend and I am confident they are telling the truth) said that the damage was there before they got it and must have been repaired by the previos owners because in the four years they have had the trailer it has never leaked. It is a funchaser so it has the steel framing so I am thinking it isn't a big deal. I hope that is a safe assumption.

You are correct that the steel frame is a plus when it comes to repairs. See my posts when you first sign in . 90 HiLo restoration. Take pictures of the damaged area and post. Some members have installed a back splash at the sink area. If you purchase this trailer and you care to say what cityy,state you are in then you may get lucky to have another HiLo owner close by that is willing to help with maintenance issues, advice.

I purchased a 2008 19 ft in October this year and even after it was checked out at the RV lot where I bought it, the lift cables had to be replaced after the 2nd time I took it out. They had rusted.

At the present time it is in the shop to repair the Atwood furnace that doesn't light.

But we like the trailer. It tows well and I get 16 miles to the gallon behind a V8 2005 F150 Lariat as opposed tho the 10 we were getting towing a ultra light 27 ft Crossroads Sunset Trail :)

I figured out that you have to be ready for malfunctions at anytime when you own a RV :eek:
