When you see another Hilo owner?

Are you prepared?

I have noticed a hilo in my little town (pop @ 2000) and yep, I dont know everyone here, even though I grew up here, it is a bedroom community, I work 30 miles away. My Dad knows probably everyone though.

Anyway, I did watch several days hoping to catch the owners out working outside on anything. I gave up, never saw them outside for weeks, so I created a document, using the HTF image like you would a letter head for a company, saying HI, and mentioning that lots of us are on HTF sharing info & stories. I didn't leave my name though, hoping one of these days Ill catch these people outside. Again I can share the blank document, but I feel like my "intro" was too dorky. We need someone here who is blessed with the typing gift, to make up something to say HELLO & tell about this website.

I suck at general "chit chat" when composing a generic letter, so I was wondering what all do you guys keep handy, with you, in case you meet a fellow Hilo person, that may not know about our site?

I have to do the same thing essentually, with a motorcycle club, I carry flyers and have even put them on windshields when I see a bike like ours... Mostly with the bike stuff, it is while getting food/gas at a local quick trip, that I meet people interested in what the bike is in the back of the pickup...

Seems same with the Hilo, I've seen a lot of attention with the hilo I got.

Is it just me? When I see a fellow HiLo owner/user headed down the road...

I live in Really rural area, when you see a camper where I live, 9 of 10 will be stopping to get fuel in the little town I work in, just telling you why I have the urge... I think I want to make some decals, with our HTF logo on them, and with website address.

I have an urge (especially when the tags are from same or nearby county) to approach them and say HI, hows things, and do you know about a really neat resource on the internet, for those of us who appreciate the Hilo camper?

I know, we younger thinkin bunch (kids we're aften called) do this with our groups on trucks, motocycles, etc. I had a Dodge D50, made by Misubishi as a "Mightmax", sold by Dodge as a d50, lovingly called the "MightyD50". we had a forum, mightyd50.com. it is now gone, but we all still have our bumper/window stickers.

So I am wonderin, anyone else think they would want to do the same?

Ill find out how much for a couple dozen 2 color decals sized about like a classic bumper sticker will cost. I want to hand them out, if cheap enough, if not I will make business cards to hand out. Last time out camping (jesus, it has been more than a month now, lol) I talked to 2 owners camped near me, and I had forgotten the printed pages I had to give them the info.

Watch for me, when you are on the road, Ill be hanging out the window waving at you, with your camper and me in my commuter car, as you pass by, LOL.

Greetings for hilo owners

I like the business card, decal idea. Seems like plenty of HiLo trailers still around. Thursday I was running a few errands and saw a Hi Lo trailer go by. I was parked at the hardware store. I was kidding my daughter that they might have stolen our HiLo and hitched up. Had I been driving I'm sure I would have followed them just to greet them. They were on Walnut Ave. which is just minutes away from the mighty waters of Niagara Falls.,NY

I have printed up business cards with our club name on it and my contact info. I ask them how they like their HiLo and if they have any questions about it. During the conversation, I tell them about the forum and J & R. Meet alot of nice people this way. Two weeks ago while camping, I encountered 4 HiLo's at the campground. That was rare.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum. Purchased my 1993 Hi Lo 22L in Phoenix in 2008 and took it to Alaska to live in for the summer. That's the only time I've used it - it's been sitting in my Redmond, WA driveway since then. This forum has already been a great help to me .

Quite a few people have stopped by wondering whether I'd sell my Hi Lo. I'm preparing it for some fall camping this year - fortunately it's in great shape.

Thank you for all the great advice/parts information. I'll be reading this forum regularly - and will share contact information should I ever see another Hi Lo.

Chief,

Glad to have you join the forum. There is alot of knowledge and experience on this forum. When in doubt about something, just ask. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

You can get free business cards at vistaprint.com! Upwards of 250 at a time. If you watch their specials there are a lot of things that can be had for little or nothing. You are limited on the designs on the free stuff but the price is sure right! My wife and I used their services and got free "thank you" post cards for our kids to send out after their weddings, every little bit of savings helps.
