I checked inside the cabinets but how do you check inside the walls?

The wall was soft and would give when pressed. I also noticed that the screws that held the trim between the ceiling panels were rusty. I cut a small hole and looked in and saw it was bad the more I cut the worse it was. The wood frame was rotted all the way from the front of the door to the top about 2 feet wide. the wood crumbled like Styrofoam. It was all because the drilled a hole to mount the box awning and were off so the redrilled it about a 1/4 of the diameter. Once it got wet it just acted like a sponge and sucked in more water.

checking walls for water dammage

One way to check for wall water damage is to remove your windows and reseal/reinstall them. This should be done if the unit is about five yrs. old. With the window out you will be able to see the inside layers of the wall.

Thanks, Rolff. We have another rain storm blowing in tonight and tomorrow so I'll check the walls after the event. I should also plan on resealing my windows in the spring as Sam suggests since it is a 2007 trailer!

Guess I better get that cover on soon! Got snow last night- was going to post a photo but it's too large of a file size.

Resealing windows

You tube has a video on how to take out your window and reinstall/reseal. You could check out some back posts on this. Buy some stainless steel screws to upgrade when you do this. Search the internet and buy the butyl tape you will need for each window. About one roll per window. Use Lexel caulk for the resealing. Plenty to do over the window.

Toilet part

I also have a Classic HiLo with a sealand toilet. Even though I have the manual I couldn't get the riser I wanted. Got the part from PPL Motor Home in Texas. Worth every penny to have a nice ADA height toilet. Great for those of us with back problems and knee replacements.
