furnace fan

Does the furnace fan use a lot of electricity? I only have one battery. It won't run all night but would run some. Going to the Smokey's late October

It doesn't run full time, but will need charging. I charged my battery every day for 30 min. But more importantly is to get the volts back to over 12v. 12.5 is normal. My battery would only go down to 11.5/11.8 over night.

Always have a multi-meter while on your trip

Making your trlr more airtight with pool noodles helps significantly.

Another option to save battery juice is to purchase one of the portable propane heaters safe for indoor use:

Portable Heaters, Propane Heaters, 12 Volt & Battery Powered Heaters, Camping Heaters - Camping World

Make sure that you have a good Carbon Monoxide Detector. Also, consider turning the portable heater off when you go to bed.

Buy a sleeping bag that is good for 20degrees below. That will keep you toasty.

Thanks to all for the help.

If you go to a campground with electric hookups take a small electric heater. Set it on a safe place, such as, on the stove. We have one of the little cube ceramic heaters and it does a fine job of keeping us warm. When boondocking I set the furnace thermostat at 55 and throw on a couple extra blankets at night. Also, crack a window and a roof vent to reduce condensation from building up inside.

When boondocking never let the battery go below 12.0 volts, or 50% charge, to help prevent reducing battery life.
