adding jacks
Hi,
I have a 92 19 ft Towlite. I want to permanently mount scissor jacks on it. I bought 24 in RV scissor jacks at Harbor Freight. They are large and I am not sure where to mount them. Would some please tell me where to mount them? Will I have to drill through the floor to add them? Thanks for your help. Lincow |
I replied to your post several days ago, you must have missed it.
Here it is again: "On our 2310H the stabilizers are welded to the frame. The rear ones are just forward of the bumper and the front ones are roughly three feet back from the front corner of the box." You could drill through the frame and bolt them on, but I think welding them on would be better. |

Thanks sorry I missed your post

stabalizer location
even though factory placement of the scissor jacks are sometimes at the outward edges of the frame(in the rear) I would place them as close to the cable lift pulleys as possible. This would prevent the typical can't get the door to close syndrome and less frame flex. you can bolt them to the frame with 1/4 or 5/16 bolts just in case they get damaged, so you can replace them

adding jacks
I was wanting to bolt them but I don't think there is any clearance between the frame and the floor. I am going to add a new cork floor so I could hide it. I am hoping cork will warm the floor some.

Don't bolt them to the floor, it isn't strong enough, they have to be mounted to the frame in some way.
On my 95 there are small pieces of angle welded from the frame to the center support and the stabilizer jacks are bolted to them. On the 2209 there are plates welded to the underside of the frame and the jacks are bolted to them both are factory installed. |
