Enough tow vehicle?

I was asked the other day if I had enough tow vehicle for a larger trailer, I think it was Sam who asked. Tell me what you think. I have a 2012 F-150 4WD Supercrew with a 5.0 L 425 HP Roush Nascar engine and a 6 speed automatic transmisson. It has the heavy towing package with factory brake controller and heavy duty alternator. Sorry if it seems like I'm bragging, but I'm kinda proud of it. Isn't that what you're supposed to do when you retire? You set everything up so you can enjoy the time you have left to go out and play. I'm enjoying "listening" to ya'll communicating on this forum. The biggest hurdle I have with a trailer is convinceing my wife that it's a justified expense. I hope all of you out there have a great upcoming travel season and above all things BE SAFE!!!

Sounds like a fun truck. That would have a supercharger?

My wife was a little hesitant at first so I didn't invest much in the first trailer. Found a 2404 in good condition needed a little TLC. She's a happy camper in her new "little house". I'm a happy camper 'cause she's happy and BluTaco can do a decent job of lugging it around.

Even with 425hp your F150 is going to have a tow rating thats going to be the limiting factor.

Towing #s

Look in your owners manual to see what your truck is rated for. Tow # weight. Take your wife to an RV show. She will get shell shocked at the prices. Then pick up a used HiLo and she will like the price. My husband never camped a day in his life until we bought a no frills Apache popup from his brother. Our next was a used Palomino popup with two long hardsides and two canvas bed ends. We had this five yrs. and my sister's family still uses it. It is in great shape. Then we got our Classic HiLo 12 yrs. ago and it is still being used after our restoration.

That truck should do you for quite a bit....by 2012 they were building for what 3/4 tons used to pull. Still-check your gvwr and add all your stuff and weight of trailer tongue together and you and the truck and the wife. Tow ratings are usually fine but the GVWR catches folks off guard. That said- if you upgrade yours will do ME just fine. :)

enough truck

Sam,
I looked in my vehicle book and with the heavyduty tow package GVWR is right at 11K.

hilltool,
I'm sorry, but probably unless something remarkable happens moneywise, when I am through with this truck, it probably won't even roll anymore. Glad you like it though.
