Is it safe to venture out into it?

Alien dust?

It seems to be moving about the country. We have had about 60" of it so far and there are still a couple of months to go. And it's warming up, it was 14 degrees today up from a low of -10 with a wind chill of -25. I will trade you places for a while.

Here on the North Coast, we call it a heavy frost. :-)

Whatever it is it is persistent; 24 hours later and it is still there.

Weird. We had stuff like that in the mountains last year, but not this year. It seems to show up with cold weather, which we haven't had either.

We've had lots of the liquid version in the last few days.

In general, its been a mild winter in the Northwest. We only had snow a couple of times and it melted quickly.

I do remember it being deeper and much whiter in years past.
This year has been abysmal in the snow dept. Haven't had any more than dusting since early Dec.
Now you wouldn't think it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Except I am a skier, and I like to drink water.
I had to break out the hose and water the plants, bushes and trees. The ground was mostly frozen, but the vegetation was starting to try and die.

It started raining last evening and today is turning to snow.

We have been in a drought for the last 3 years and when your annual amount of moisture is only 7" per year you get thirsty real bad when it stays below 3.5".

Lake Tahoe is below the natural rim for only the 3rd time in the last century. Ski areas have been operating on only man made snow and the pack tends to be very icy and not good for ski's or crashing.

Slow and steady is the mantra. We also flood easily if it comes too fast or melts too quickly.
