Gas for the Grill

This year I decided to buy a new camping grill. My old one was similar to the coleman RoadTrip, it was OK but it's just Bev and I so this time I wanted a smaller grill to save space.

There were so many to pick from it was a hard decision but I finially decided to try the O-Grill 1000. We haven't used it yet so the review on it will be a future posting.

My question is on Gas. I used to use the disposable 1LB canaster but now I'm thinking of either going with a small refillable tank or getting a hose kit to hook to the propane tanks on the camper.

I'd really like to hear some opinions on the two.

Alternate propane sources

Any of the three is possible. You must be certain all the hoses are rated for tank pressure LP gas or liquid. The pressure varies as to the temperature of the liquid in the refillable tanks. That is around 80 psi at about 60 degrees F. If the liquid (and tank) are warmer the pressure is higher and if colder it is less. If memory serves me the pressure relief is set for about 300 PSI so all the components have to be capable of those pressures. Furthermore there will probably be a quick disconnect of some type in the hose system and that must be rated for full pressure fuel gas as well. It is wize to remember that propane is heavier than air and will have a tendency to collect in depressions until it reaches a ignitable concentration. Then any source of ignition and BOOM.

gas grill

I have a 25' hose with quick cuplers, all you have to do is snap it in place and you can work off the trailer bottle. saves a lot of room not having to store another bottle. There are no leaks and it is safe. With 25' hose you can set the grill out of the weather and cook. Good food and good friends is what camping is all about. The hose and cuppler I use was bought from a RV dealer made by Coleman camping gear.

gas supply to grill

I ran a propane line to the frontside of my rear bumper on the inside of the trailer frame from my trailer tanks to a two appliance propane disconnect.Using propane appliance hoses(4ft.long) to the grill & stove,I can cook at rear of the campsite & the outdoor kitchen is out of the way.
