Having to pay for showers while camping.

We went camping with our Good Sam club. We paid $34.00 for two nights. It included water and 30amp. electric at our site. We have taken out the plumbing for a shower in our HiLo. Would be easy to reinstall. The campground shower house required you to insert quarters for a shower. DH" no wonder the showers were immaculate no one used them." We just washed up and washed my short hair in the HiLo. I would rather pay a little more a night than have to pop quarters. It rained, but we were High and Dry with our faithful HiLo.

Sam, same here. We recently were in a campground in Fort Macleod, Canada that required "loonies" so we washed up in the trailer.;)

We ran into the same situation in one camp ground. I asked the owner why. The response I got was about the local geology. The area was all rock with about 1' of top soil. The septic systems could handle a limited amount of water. He explained signs didn't help because guests didn't think it applied to them. They installed the coin timers then did campers care about spending too much time running the water. After he explained it and expense of having the septic system pumped out every two - three days it made sense to me. It was a nice campground and I would go back again.
