HiLo Sighting Today
 

Today, Tuesday Apr 26 2016, as I was headed out to do some shopping, I passed a HiLo being towed westbound that was just entering Pine, AZ. The time was 12:47 PM and I THINK the trailer was a 17 ft one.

Looked like a 21st century model, maybe 2004+, but since I passed it so quickly, I couldn't be sure of that or the length.

If any of you were headed through Pine towards Strawberry today, who were you?

I think it's pretty neat to see a fellow HiLo owner and too bad we didn't have a chance to talk a bit.

Wasn't me Jack but we are heading your direction next week. We are heading to Williams on Sunday for a visit to the South Rim but will not be taking the trailer, opting to stay in a vacation rental instead. I haven't been to the Grand Canyon since a small child and my wife has never been so should be a fun trip! We'll be in Williams for three nights.

Greg, I'd love to see the WOW! expression on your Wife's face when she first sees the canyon. Have a great trip!

Probably, Garry. Sounds like a fun thing to do! We may also do one of the "Pink Jeep" tours which provide a nice "overview" (pun intended) of the canyon.

Hello Luckydog671, my wife works for the Grand Canyon Railway, we can answer any questions you might have about the train.

Does the little old man, Earl, still work as a guide on the train? We went a number of years ago and he was our guide. He was very interesting and funny.

The train was a lot of fun! Not sure if Earl is still there as he may have been in a different car. We were in the Pullman car which was the oldest car they were using at the time, built in the 1920's and used to transport soldiers during the war. It is the only car in which you can open the windows and our weather was fantastic!

The morning started out with a shootout show, then we boarded the train northbound for the Canyon. Our attendant's name was Max Williams, who was a local guy from Williams whose dad had moved there because he had the same last name. He was pretty funny and entertaining. We also got entertained by the strolling minstrels on the way there and back. Also on the way back, the trained was "robbed." Lots of fun for both kids and adults and highly recommended!

That brings back memories of a fun day.

Saw a 1970 HiLo today.
 

Sent DH to the drug store to pick up some RX. In the parking was a 1973 HiLo all hitched up his mini van. The owner saw DH and came over to talk to him. It has been in his family for two generations. States the roof doesn't leak. He plans to coat the roof and give the aluminum a fresh paint job. He was installing dog ear fencing in his yard. Maybe a while before he gets to restoring the HiLo. I went back and gave the information for this forum and a card for our HiLo dealer. His name is Pat.
