Top this one for a Brain Cramp

My wife is showing the neighbor's brother our Hi-Lo that I refurbished last year and called me out to show him how it lowers and raises. Go inside and make sure everything is out of the way. Open door all the way and start to lower top !!CRUNCH!! never pulled the camp chair away from the camper right under the door. Bent the top hinge and pulled the rivets loose from the door frame. DUMB DUMB DUMB Fixed now but boy did I feel DUMB.

yeah, I noticed that the previous owner of mine had installed a paper towel holder under the upper cabinet which had bent and marred the counter when it was lowered, fun stuff

Fixed my oops today

We were going to take our HiLO back to our parking lot. Dh tried to start up the generator to do the crunched under cabinet on site. Something broke off the generator. We did plan B and fixed it with the ac on at curbside. It worked out better as he was able to use his table saw and other assorted items from the house. Items on the counter top will crunch the thin material as you lower your cabinet. I was a little tired the day I did this oops. Thought the noise I was hearing was the section of seal that needs to be reworked/redone with heavier metal. Snitched a piece of the cupboard bottom from inside the cupboard so it would match. Then we had the fun of putting the HiLo away in a good rain storm. Of course it let up after we were done. My philosophy"if it isn't permanent damage it can be fixed".

we've all been there----more than once :) My wife and I now do a double inspection. one inside and the other outside, and then we switch. Fresh eyes. Of course it doesn't help when you are doing it by yourself. I wreck most stuff by myself. :o

When I bought my trailer it had damage on the lower part of the front overhang. I believe that something was left on top of the battery compartment and the top was lowered. Here is my repair:

Fixing a Towlite

Some one asked me about fixing a Towlite in a private message. I must have accidently erased it before I replied. Yes,It has been done by many forum members. Do a search under off topics for towlite repairs. I have a heavier classic and the repairs are done somewhat different. See Lengle 6-12-2012 Towlite demolition rebuild. Maybe other can provide more links to rebuild stories/pictures. It is worth doing.
