chock or not to chock

Yes. It works grate, as they say in the comershal would not leave home with out it. When you stop the motion of the tires when camping, it helps grately to stablise the trailer. You don't feal the motion of some one walking through the unit, when you are sleeping in the bed.

I made my own. Use two 4X4 inch pieces of wood, cut to size, something like this then a threaded rod, nuts and washers of

proper size. The wooden pieces are used top and bottom with rod running through the center, tighten the nut and the wood is squeezed together against the tires, which accomplishes the same as the mass produced product without the cost.

the example didn't post properly, so - the wooden pieces are cut, both ends at an angle, which allow it to be squeezed against the tire.

The ones we use are likely an older model of the one shown in the CW link, but they work great. Much more effective than blocking the wheels with a ground block. I like the convenience - once you adjust for the span between your tire, it's really quick to put the block in place, or to remove it.
We have 2, but usually only use 1 at a time for overnight stops.

Wow, it sounds like everyone likes these. I also noticed that they have a 5 star review rating, and since they're on sale anyway... :) , I just put in my order.

I started carrying one of these two years ago when my wife gave it to me as a B-day present. Thought it was chocking overkill... until we had our door side double flat in the middle of the Nevada desert last year. Then I was SOOO glad to have it because the road margin shape and softness made it impossible for me to chock the roadside wheels well enough to stabilize the trailer. I could not have jacked up the passenger side without it.

Since then I've used them several times when camping, and am also impressed by how well they take the remaining "wobble," out of the rig after the corner stabilizers are down.

Now we carry two!

Hensley Chock

Just noticed that Hensley has them on sale as well: $35 each plus shipping at their on-line store www.safetowingstore.com . Ordering two myself. At Camping World, check out item 43891; it's the single chock that's cheaper than ordering the pair (49876) ($95 vs $80 for two single). With shipping, it's 2 cents cheaper at Hensley.

Thanks for the recommendations. We'll give you feedback on these as well as the McKesh mirrors and Reese WD hitches after our spring trip.
