How many quarts of dextron transmission fluid does the 2001 m220L hold

I don't think it's specified. I'm going to guess maybe two quarts, thinking of the size of the tank.

any idea how to get the fluid in the drum seeing as how the drum is located at the back of the hitch and it is recommended that the hilo be lowered when putting in the fluid. if i lower it i can barely get to the fill cap

When the resvoir is filled to the correct level, 1" below the fill hole with the top lowered, then when you raise the top you will have aprox 1" left in the bottom of the resvoir. Do not overfill or you will have a real mess in the compartment when you lower the top.

If you know how much to add, by measuring with a "dipstick", raise the top enough to get a tube into the fill hole that is attached to a funnel. Then, add a little at a time, lowering and checking the level after each addition. There's a little guesswork involved, but I raised my level about 1/2" this way.
