hi lo wont raise unless on battery
My hi lo will not raise if it is pluged in. It must have a charged battery in it. Any ideas? also the front and middle part of the camper come up into place, however, the back of the hi lo falls short of coming up into place by an inch. any suggestions? I have a 1990 funchaser

The battery must be charged to raise the top. Shore power will not do it. The pump runs on 12 volts and runs from the battery. The top can be leveled by adjusting the cables underneath. There are a number of posts here on the forum that explain how to do it.

Rich is right. The driving force behind the Hydraulic lifting system is basically a starter motor from a car. Just as it does when its in your car, this high torque little motor needs a burst of high amperage to do its thing. It needs the sustained electrical punch that only a charged battery can provide. The onboard converter/charger just can't handle it, and was never meant to.

Battery Voltage
Ditto to the above posts. You must have a fully charged battery to deliever that "punch" of eletric energy to run the pump ( just like a car starter ).
For the record my auto tech books tell me the following between battery voltage and state of charge ( ability to run the pump ) 12.6 V is 100% charge 12.4 V is 75 12.2 V is 50 to 75% 12.0 V is only about 25% charge Look for 12.6 volts on the battery if you want a positive start and pump run. Anything less is dicey. |
