No sqeal
 

Why no squeal. Have a dysfunctions soklenboid so i will be crossing over on solenoid to run motor. Trailer is up. Shouldn’t it be sqealing when I do this to test this procedure. ??

Rick, are you saying the lift motor is NOT running when you apply power directly to the solenoid with the top up? If that is the case, I'd say the solenoid is not "closing" (the internal relay) to complete the circuit from the battery to the motor.

And, since you've learned the solenoid itself is bad, that may well be the case. Are the battery connections to it sound? Battery power has to go through the solenoid to the motor.

I may have said this already, but the solenoid is just a VERY heavy-duty switch that carries very high Amperage battery power to the motor. That switch is closed by a fairly low Amperage current that you are applying manually directly from the battery too, which would normally come from the lift switch.

Have you tested for voltage at the end of the wire from the lift switch (where it connects to the solenoid) with a voltmeter when you apply "UP" on the lift switch? We may have discussed this before, but my rapidly failing brain cells cannot recall. I'm somewhat reluctant to believe the solenoid is defective - they are pretty simple devices.
